Downtown Miami

Choose Miami for a race weekend with a beach holiday on either side. The circuit wraps around the Hard Rock Stadium campus in Miami Gardens, away from the Downtown skyline and South Beach. Pick your hotel around the holiday you want, then solve the daily road transfer before committing to the room.

The official 2027 dates are Friday 30 April to Sunday 2 May. This is a standard Grand Prix weekend rather than a Sprint. Miami is five hours behind the UK at this time of year. Our three-night stay is Friday 30 April to Monday 3 May; arriving earlier is the better way to enjoy Friday without dragging long-haul tiredness into your first session.

Expect the racing to share the stage with food, music, hospitality and people-watching. You can enjoy the occasion without buying every premium extra. Choose a seat that suits the racing you want to see, put reliable transport next, and spend what remains on the Florida part of the trip. For this race, a carefully controlled hotel and transfer budget matters as much as the ticket.

Why go

Our verdict

Our opinion · how the 1–5 scores work
Atmosphere4/5
Ease from UK1/5
Track action4/5
Value3/5
Holiday add-on4/5

Go if you want Formula 1 with the volume turned up. Miami’s attraction is the combination of a stadium campus, a large entertainment scene and a destination where non-fans can happily fill their own days. It suits groups who want racing without making the entire holiday about racing.

Smart move

Make the choice with clear expectations. You are not walking from an Ocean Drive breakfast straight into a waterfront street race. The track is inland at Miami Gardens, so the beach and the race are separate daily destinations. That can work very well when you book the transfer deliberately and leave unhurried time for both.

This is a good race for celebrating something or adding a few Florida days, but it rewards deciding what your money is meant to buy. A covered seat, one memorable dinner and an easy return journey may give your group more pleasure than an impressive hotel address followed by three exhausting commutes. Agree whether you want a fan weekend, a beach break or a party trip before comparing packages. Otherwise everybody may spend heavily on a version of Miami somebody else wanted.

Dates & tickets

2027 tickets — grandstand and hospitality sales opened 24 September 2026.

The official sales catalogue lists grandstands, Campus Pass, hospitality, suites and Paddock Club. The promoter announced 2027 tickets on sale on 24 September 2026. Choose and buy an official Miami ticket; check live seat prices in the official checkout (checked October 2026). Keep the ticket in the organiser’s app/account rather than relying on a screenshot. Confirm the 2027 child tariff and official resale terms before budgeting for savings.

2027 reserved-seat example: Beach Grandstands three-day bench seating is advertised at USD695; check fees and remaining seats in the live checkout. Official Beach Grandstands product. Use the official account/app route for delivery and ask the seller which transfer/resale controls apply to your product. Checked October 2026.

A three-day Grandstand Pass can rotate your seat between different locations; a fixed three-day grandstand ticket gives you the same base throughout. Read the daily allocation carefully before choosing between them. If the Sunday view is your priority, choose by that day rather than the most exciting photograph in the sales gallery.

Compare the total price and renewal conditions as well as the advertised benefits. The organiser’s Grandstand+ offer has an auto-renewal enrolment condition for its listed benefits. Decide whether that suits you before treating extras such as parking as part of your plan. A normal ticket and a membership arrangement are different purchasing decisions.

For the live dollar price, fees and availability, use the official checkout. Keep a copy of the product description, seat allocation and transfer terms with your booking confirmation, especially if friends are paying separately.

Buy only from the organiser, F1’s official ticket store or its listed agents — unofficial sellers may sell invalid tickets.

Hospitality & upgrades

2027 hospitality — official sales are open; obtain the inclusions and quote for the selected package.

Miami sells hospitality, private suites and Paddock Club through its official ticket catalogue, with an appointment option for its sales team. The products serve different viewing areas: choose the location first, then ask for the itemised food, drink and shade provision. Confirm the 2027 price and inclusions for your chosen package directly with the organiser (checked October 2026).

Getting there from the UK

British Airways UK–Miami network reference (2026 edition — 2027 details not yet published).

Arrive at Miami International Airport (MIA). The airport’s transport guide confirms free MIA Mover to the Intermodal Center; Orange-line Metrorail serves Brickell and Government Center for USD 2.25 each way. The Miami Beach airport bus also costs USD 2.25 and operates every 30 minutes from 06:00 to 23:40 (checked October 2026). These are airport transfers, not circuit shuttles. British Airways publishes its Heathrow–Miami service in its 2026 network announcement; confirm the actual 2027 flight before booking a non-refundable hotel.

Before booking, read GOV.UK’s US entry requirements and apply through the official US ESTA service. Eligible British citizens need approved ESTA authorisation for Visa Waiver Program travel; others need the appropriate visa. Check your own eligibility, including previous travel and immigration history, before paying for the trip. The US government eligibility rules include restrictions for Cuba visits on or after 12 January 2021, relevant if you are planning a wider holiday. Entry guidance was checked in October 2026.

For direct flying, start with London Heathrow. British Airways advertises direct Miami flights and gives an approximate nine-hour flight time. Allow for the actual scheduled time shown on your ticket, plus the airport processes at both ends. Virgin Atlantic also lists direct London Heathrow services, with a published flight time of around ten hours. Compare the dated schedules and baggage allowances before paying.

From Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Newcastle, compare a protected connection with travelling to the departure airport by rail. Look at the full outward and return journey, including baggage and the overnight flight home. A lower fare can lose its appeal when it requires separate tickets, a hotel near a UK airport or a long drive while tired after landing.

Arrive Wednesday or Thursday if you can. Stay awake until a reasonable local bedtime, have a relaxed first morning and leave demanding driving for later. Friday arrival can work for a shorter trip, but book it because you accept missing some running, not because an airline arrival time looks close to the programme on paper.

For the circuit, use the organiser’s rideshare and transport instructions. Its published approach uses designated off-site rideshare locations; setting the destination to the stadium itself is the wrong starting point. Match the drop-off, shuttle or walking connection to your ticketed gate and save the pickup instructions offline.

Build your Sunday around an unhurried return. As a personal time allowance, keep up to two hours from leaving the grandstand to getting away from the event area, then add the journey to your chosen district. A busy departure can take longer. Leave dinner flexible, keep some battery for contacting your driver and use the official collection point even if an app appears to offer a closer road. Monday departure is the cleanest way to avoid making the airport your last race-day deadline.

Before you go — UK travellers

British tourists need an approved ESTA if eligible for the Visa Waiver Program, otherwise a visa, even for a US flight connection. The passport must cover the planned stay. Apply only through US Customs and Border Protection’s ESTA service. Check ESTA eligibility and your existing approval before travel, including for a US flight connection. A Cuba visit on or after 12 January 2021 prevents use of ESTA; other travel and personal-history restrictions also apply. An ESTA without the now-required selfie may need renewal: check your ESTA account before travelling. GOV.UK entry requirements, checked October 2026. Carry travel insurance covering race attendance and medical treatment; a GHIC does not cover this destination. Download tickets and an offline map before leaving Wi-Fi, and check your UK network’s roaming charge before switching data on. Read the UK travellers’ checklist for insurance, phones, money and packing.

Pay in US dollars (USD) and carry a payment card. Add sales tax to shelf/menu prices; for a sit-down meal, the official tourism guide suggests 15–20% tipping, unless a service charge already covers it. Official US money/tipping guide; checked October 2026. Pack a Type A/B adapter for 120V sockets, and check that the appliance accepts the supply voltage: Electrical Safety First’s US adaptor guide.

English is the working visitor language; Spanish is also common in Miami. Useful English requests: “Excuse me”, “Which gate is this?” and “Can I pay by card?” Before travelling, price your UK network’s US roaming package or an eSIM and save the tickets offline. Turn off roaming until the charge is clear; an eSIM does not change ESTA or passport requirements.

Call 911 for police, fire or ambulance. Read TravelHealthPro’s USA guide and buy medical and repatriation insurance; a GHIC does not provide US cover. GOV.UK local rules put the drinking age at 21. Carry your passport showing permission to be in the US, and follow state and public-drinking rules. Do not assume state cannabis legislation removes federal restrictions. Essentials checked October 2026.

Downtown Miami

Downtown puts MiamiCentral and waterfront museums within the city-break plan. It suits travellers using Brightline to Aventura rather than driving to the stadium.

South Beach Miami Beach

South Beach is the beach-first option, with dinner and an oceanfront walk after racing. It adds a road journey before you reach the stadium transport network, so the hotel bargain needs to cover that extra transfer.

Downtown or Brickell is the strongest all-round starting point for a mixed group. You have a city base for food and sightseeing while the fans make their planned journey north. Choose the hotel only after looking at the actual race-transfer pickup. A room close to a usable departure point is more helpful than a vague promise of convenient location.

South Beach suits a group that wants the beach to lead the holiday. You gain early swims, walking and a different evening atmosphere, but commit to the added road journey to Miami Gardens. Leave beach time for mornings without a circuit deadline or add extra days; trying to fit a leisurely beach breakfast before every session can turn the drive into an argument.

Miami Gardens or a nearby stadium-area hotel puts the race first. Check the permitted gate route before describing a property as walkable: major roads, event fencing and designated access can change a short map distance into a different trip. You will also have fewer reasons to linger locally than in a beach or city base.

Search dates: 2027-04-30 to 2027-05-03 (three nights, two adults sharing). Arriving Thursday adds a fourth night; change the dates before booking. Match the hotel’s walk to your station or pickup point before reserving.

Compare the full stay total, with taxes and any resort or destination charge, and read what those charges actually include. Under the FTC’s pricing rule, mandatory hotel fees must be included upfront, although government taxes can be shown later before payment. Use the final payable amount for your budget rather than adding a resort fee twice. Use flexible cancellation terms where useful and ask about the incidental deposit. A shared three-night room is the basis of our costs; arriving Thursday or choosing a solo room requires a deliberate adjustment.

The latest A–Z guide routes Brightline passengers through Aventura and returns them from Lot 16. Do not assume the train includes stadium admission. Accessible parking is Lot 35 with an appropriate placard and matching ID; the accessible shuttle returns to that same lot. Use the organiser’s designated rideshare locations and check the current return instructions before travelling. Confirm the last shuttle when booking the return.

2026 rideshare locations, checked October 2026: all pick-ups are off-site. Use the organiser’s lot instructions: Lot 35, 21001 NW 27th Avenue, serves Gate 8; Lot 43, 2775 NW 183rd Street, is a 1.3-mile walk from Gates 3 or 5; Lot 70 at Seminole Hard Rock, 1 Seminole Way, has a free shuttle to Gate 14. Use the same lot for the return. The published shuttle headway is 10 minutes; service windows depend on the route and day. Book official parking for the lot assigned to your ticket before driving.

True cost of the weekend

Two adults share one room for three nights, Friday–Monday. For Miami Grand Prix, admission covers three race days; spend more for better seating, a more convenient bed and longer meals.

Travel covers return economy flights, UK/Miami airport journeys and an ESTA allowance. Stay includes accommodation tax and mandatory hotel-charge allowances; food includes sales tax and a 20% table-service tip where not already included. Circuit transport includes a busy-period return contingency. The ticket row includes a booking-charge allowance.

The most effective saving is choosing a less expensive room without breaking the transfer plan. A distant bargain followed by three expensive rideshares can cost more overall. Put each hotel’s final total beside the transport it requires and compare the combined figure before deciding.

Sales tax is commonly added to displayed prices, so use the amount you will actually pay when replacing these figures. Visit the USA gives 15–20% as the usual range for a sit-down restaurant tip. We allow 20% on the pre-tax meal amount where service is not already included. Read the bill so you do not add the same gratuity twice.

The stay line includes allowances for accommodation tax and hotel charges; the food line includes sales taxes and tips; the circuit-transport line includes a contingency for a more expensive return. Keep those amounts in their proper rows when you price your own trip. The Splurge column buys more comfort, but premium hospitality, private parties and a longer Florida holiday can take the total well beyond it.

Avoid hiring a car solely because it feels normal for America. Compare the whole bill for rental, insurance, fuel, tolls and parking with the transfer you actually need. If a car is useful for your later holiday, collect it after the race rather than paying to park it through the weekend.

Grandstands & general admission

For a first visit, compare the Turn 1 North and Turn 18 options before concentrating on hospitality. A braking-zone seat gives you something clear to watch as cars arrive, position themselves and accelerate away. Use the official seating pages and current map to compare the precise blocks, rather than assuming a corner name describes every seat equally well.

Choose Start/Finish if the grid, pit-lane activity and the start are your main priorities. Marina-side viewing gives a different part of the lap and campus atmosphere. If you want to sample more than one area, inspect the Grandstand Pass and its day-by-day allocation. Decide what view you want for Sunday before letting a rotating ticket make that decision for you.

Treat shade as a purchase criterion. Ask whether the exact row is covered and when it is shaded; a roof drawn over a stand does not describe the sun angle all afternoon. Check the nearest big screen from your actual block so you can follow pit stops and gaps elsewhere around the lap. A slightly less glamorous seat with a comfortable view can be the better three-day choice.

For a Campus Pass or other roaming admission, establish the included viewing areas and where you can sit between sessions. The show can be enjoyable even without a reserved race seat, but do not confuse access to the campus with an unrestricted view of every corner. Keep the way back to your permitted transport gate in mind: walking the campus is part of the exit, not a shortcut around the traffic outside.

At the circuit

2026 — 2027 details not yet published, checked October 2026: the organiser’s A–Z guide allows clear bags up to 12×6×12 in, small non-clear bags up to 4.5×6.5 in and an empty plastic/silicone bottle up to 32 oz. The site is cashless. Accessible restrooms, concessions and water fountains are available; the app provides the campus map and ticket access. Bright sun and storms make a hat, sunscreen and a compact rain layer useful. Do not bring glass, metal drinks containers or assume a stadium roof shades every seat.

2026 facilities, checked October 2026: free water stations are shown under “Guest Experience” on the organiser’s campus map and app; food outlets are under “Dining”. The Miami GP A–Z guide permits outside food only for medical or special dietary needs, carried in a clear plastic bag. Cash can be converted into a prepaid Visa card at Guest Experience HQ. Toilets throughout the campus are accessible, with family toilets and changing tables also available. Check the 2027 guide for any changes before packing.

Race weekend day by day

2027 is a standard, non-Sprint weekend. The dated 2026 programme below was a Sprint weekend, so its Saturday Sprint and session order are reference information only; use the 2027 programme when released. Checked October 2026.

2026 — 2027 details not yet published; local times, checked October 2026. The promoter’s page has a 2027 heading but retains Friday 1 May/Saturday 2 May/Sunday 3 May and Sprint sessions from 2026. Treat this as last-edition information, not a 2027 programme.

  • Friday 2026: campus 11:30; practice 12:00; F2 qualifying 14:30; Sprint qualifying 16:30.
  • Saturday 2026: campus 10:00; F2 Sprint 10:00; F1 Sprint 12:00; qualifying 16:00.
  • Sunday 2026: campus 08:00; F2 feature 09:25; drivers 11:00; Grand Prix 13:00.

Friday: arrive with enough time to find your seat and understand the campus before the busiest running. Locate water, toilets, a shaded rest point and the exit for your transfer. Explore in the gaps, then save your best energy for the sessions rather than spending all morning in the sun because everything looks interesting.

Saturday: plan around qualifying and the weather. Eat before the popular breaks and choose one or two campus extras you actually want. If a storm warning changes the programme, follow event instructions and shelter where directed. An afternoon shower is not the moment to improvise a long walk through an unfamiliar site.

Sunday: have breakfast, leave early enough for the transfer and make the race the main commitment. Keep sunscreen and permitted water supplies accessible. Stay for the finish and ceremony if you want them, then use your planned pickup route rather than chasing the first car an app displays. Leave the final dinner booking late or choose a place without a strict prepaid arrival time.

Monday: check out and fly home, or move into the holiday part of the trip. For the overnight UK return, keep fresh clothes and essentials in hand luggage and plan the next morning sensibly. If extending in Florida, make this a recovery day rather than the longest drive of the holiday. The race has already supplied plenty of stimulation.

Getting back after the race

2026 return reference, checked October 2026: Brightline passengers use Lot 16 for Aventura. The organiser’s Brightline guide lists Aventura departures until 21:30 on Friday/Saturday and 21:00 on Sunday, with return shuttles leaving the race one hour before the booked train. Choose a train carrying the Hard Rock Stadium Connect icon and confirm that day’s shuttle departure when booking. The final 2027 shuttle and train times remain unconfirmed. South Beach and Brickell guests should use the designated rideshare lot for their ticket area and allow for surge pricing and queues. Let the first crowd clear only while your return service remains open.

Before and after the race

Give the non-fan a proper holiday plan of their own. South Beach can fill a day with the beach, Art Deco streets and a long lunch, while a Downtown base puts museums and waterfront wandering into a different itinerary. Use Greater Miami’s official visitor site to check opening days, exhibitions and transport before booking an attraction.

Pick one area for a morning and stay there long enough to enjoy it. Constantly crossing between the beach, Downtown and another neighbourhood can consume the day in traffic. Agree an evening meeting district rather than an exact early dinner time; the fans may spend much longer leaving Miami Gardens than you spend returning from sightseeing.

For a beach-holiday extension, add nights after the Grand Prix and choose the area you most want to enjoy at a slower pace. For a bigger Florida itinerary, make the onward travel a separate day and compare the driving distance before promising yourself several attractions. A map of the state is a better planning tool than a list of famous names.

Keep the shared part of the holiday generous too. One breakfast together and a relaxed evening can matter more than making everybody attend a circuit day they do not want. Miami works especially well when the group accepts different daytime interests and meets back up without a rush.

First-timers & families

Pack for heat, humidity and a possible downpour. A hat, sunscreen, light clothing and comfortable shoes make the circuit day easier; a compact rain layer keeps the bag manageable. Put spare dry clothing somewhere reachable afterwards. Check the forecast each morning and adjust the day rather than carrying the same assumptions through all three days.

Children need proper ear defenders, regular shade and breaks that happen before they become miserable. Choose a reserved seat with a sensible route to facilities if you are bringing a family. The entertainment can be tempting, but a child does not need to complete every activity to have a good day. Leave a quiet evening after the busiest circuit day.

Read the organiser’s A–Z guide while packing for current bag, bottle, food, pushchair and child-ticket rules. Use the current permitted container and water-station instructions rather than bringing a large bag of drinks on assumption. Ask ahead about medicines and medical exceptions, then keep essential items easy to show at screening.

A hotel is the natural family base here. Prioritise sleep, breakfast and a pool or beach day on a non-racing date over an ambitious list of extras. Check each traveller’s US entry documents, including children, as part of the same booking checklist. Keep the return-flight night in the family calendar so school or work plans reflect the real arrival day.

Accessibility

Contact the organiser before buying to match accessible seating with the right parking, shuttle or drop-off route. Use its accessibility information and guest-experience contacts. Describe the support you need, including walking distance, steps, mobility equipment and any companion seat, so the reply deals with your actual day.

A standard rideshare booking does not settle the access question. Confirm the vehicle, designated collection location, any transfer between vehicle and circuit, and what happens when the busiest queues form. Arrange the journey back in the same conversation and keep the provider’s instructions available offline.

Ask the hotel about the actual room category, bathroom, lifts and transfer pickup. If staying on the beach, check the access you need there as well as inside the hotel. Allow enough space in your plan for rest and heat management; long periods of standing can be as significant as stairs.

For sensory needs, noise and the busy campus deserve a plan before arrival. Agree a quieter break location, a meeting point and an earlier departure option if required. Buy the weekend your group can comfortably enjoy, rather than a longer or more crowded package because it looks better value per hour.

FAQs

When is the 2027 Miami Grand Prix?

The official weekend is 30 April–2 May 2027. Our three-night hotel search runs Friday 30 April to Monday 3 May. Add an earlier arrival if you want to recover from the flight before Friday running.

Do I need ESTA for a Miami race trip?

Start with the official links in Getting there from the UK and complete the eligibility check before paying for flights and tickets. Keep the application confirmation with your passport details and allow time to resolve a problem before departure.

Should I stay in South Beach or Downtown?

Pick South Beach when the beach is central to the holiday, and Downtown or Brickell for a broader city base. Both need a planned journey to Miami Gardens. Compare the hotel and return transfer together before choosing the cheaper room.

Can I take a train straight to the circuit?

Do not plan the trip as a station-to-grandstand rail journey. Use the organiser’s current transport arrangements for the final connection, whether that involves a shuttle, parking area or designated rideshare location. Save the exact instructions for your gate.

What costs do British visitors often miss?

Add sales taxes, restaurant tips, hotel charges and a busy return-transfer allowance inside your budget. Read restaurant bills for an included gratuity and compare the hotel’s full payable total. Our cost rows already allow for these items.

Plan the rest of your trip

Compare Miami with the Canadian Grand Prix in Montréal, Austin at COTA and the Las Vegas Saturday-night race. Montréal is attractive for an island circuit reached through the city’s Metro system, Austin for food and music around a separate circuit journey, and Vegas for a very different late-night setting. Miami earns its place when beaches and the show are part of what you want.

Use Which Grand Prix should I go to? to compare the full weekend, not just the seat. For a shorter beach-and-race trip from Britain, also look at Portimão and the Algarve. A European journey may leave more of your budget available for a longer stay, while Florida rewards making the long flight part of a wider holiday.

Put your final choices into one itinerary: entry approval, flight, room, circuit ticket and the return from Miami Gardens. Give each person the booking references they may need and decide how the group will meet after racing. With those pieces settled, the beach morning and the race atmosphere can feel like the point of the trip, rather than rewards you are too tired to enjoy.
