Book for Brands Hatch in Kent, not ExCeL in Docklands. Formula E's British event keeps the London E-Prix name for 2027 , but the trip has changed: this is a circuit weekend in the countryside rather than an indoor–outdoor city-venue visit. Start with a practical Kent base and decide separately whether you want a London day before or afterwards.
The official Formula E calendar lists London rounds on 29 and 30 May 2027 . Its calendar announcement identifies Brands Hatch as the venue. Our three-night example is Friday 28–Monday 31 May, allowing arrival before the double-header and a night after the second race.
The change of venue affects almost every practical choice. A hotel beside the old ExCeL course is no longer a circuit hotel; a DLR journey is no longer your final transport leg. Look at Swanley, Sevenoaks and Dartford before choosing London solely for the name on the event. Check before you book: use the 2027 event ticket map and transport information for the new venue, particularly for any essential shuttle or accessible viewing arrangement.

Why go
Our verdict
Our opinion · how the 1–5 scores workGo for Formula E at a proper spectator amphitheatre, with a different visual character from its former London home. An undulating permanent circuit lets you concentrate on the way electric single-seaters race rather than spending the whole day inside an exhibition venue. For returning fans, the change is a good reason to reassess the trip instead of repeating last year's bookings automatically.
Our recommendation is to attend both advertised days if the ticket products and your budget allow it. You can learn the site on the first day, compare viewing positions where permitted and return with a clearer plan for the second. A weekend with two race days rewards a base that keeps the daily transfer manageable; saving a little on a room is less attractive if it creates two complicated returns.
The event also makes sense for a mixed-interest group. One person can spend a day in London or explore Kent while another watches the racing, then everyone can share dinner. Keep that city-break element independent of a time-critical circuit transfer. Formula E and Brands Hatch provide the sporting reason to travel; the holiday works best when you also enjoy where you are staying and leave room for a slower evening.

2027 London E-Prix tickets — event-specific products and sale dates await announcement; championship-wide guidance is identified below.
The official Formula E ticket hub is the starting point for championship ticket releases. The Brands Hatch announcement confirms the new venue, but a 2027 London E-Prix purchase product, named ticket categories, child prices, delivery method or resale route could not yet be confirmed. Register for event updates rather than buying an ExCeL ticket or a different Brands Hatch meeting (checked October 2026).
Formula E’s championship-wide ticket FAQ distinguishes a grandstand ticket, which includes Fan Village access, from a Fan Village ticket, which does not guarantee a track view. If tickets are not attached to the booking confirmation, its general guidance is delivery 10–14 days before the event; contact the seller if absent seven days before. Mobile tickets can be scanned from a phone, and the purchaser’s name does not have to match every guest. Formula E’s official ticket hub, checked October 2026. Follow the eventual Brands Hatch product for event-specific terms.
Start at Formula E's official ticket page and follow the 2027 London event listing. Compare whether each product covers one day or both, a reserved seat or roaming admission, and any extra experiences. A ticket bought for a previous London venue tells you nothing about access at Brands Hatch. Check the name, year and date before payment.
If camping is offered, assess it as a transport decision as well as an accommodation choice. Being on site can remove the daily station transfer, but equipment, showers and a quieter place to sleep matter. Ask about pitch allocation, vehicle access, arrival times and whether a spectator ticket is included. Do not buy an unrelated circuit camping product and assume it applies to Formula E.
For hospitality, compare the actual view and included facilities with a comfortable ordinary seat and a good hotel. A room, meal or premium label does not automatically include trackside seating for every session. Look at re-entry, age rules and whether your group can stay together. Our cost table uses admission allowances until the event products are published; choose the level of comfort first, then replace that allowance with the exact basket total including fees.
Buy only from Formula E or its listed agents. Unofficial sellers may sell invalid tickets.
Hospitality & upgrades
2027 E-Prix hospitality — a meeting-specific package has yet to be confirmed.
Brands Hatch offers venue raceday hospitality, but no London E-Prix package, price or inclusions were published in the checked 2027 event announcement. Ask specifically for the Formula E meeting rather than buying a BTCC or Superbike package. General venue hospitality is not evidence of an E-Prix entitlement (checked October 2026).
Getting there
2027 travel planning — standing arrival routes checked October 2026; confirm the dated services for the journey.
Brands Hatch is on the A20, three miles from M25 junction 3 at Swanley. The venue’s travel guide names Swanley station, served from London Victoria, with a taxi rank in its car park. Gatwick Airport is the nearest commercial airport, quoted as a 30–45-minute drive in normal traffic (checked October 2026).
Driving is straightforward to plan geographically, but it still needs event-specific parking instructions. Use the circuit's official visitor information and follow the approach routes and car-park signs for the meeting. Enter the right vehicle details if advance parking is required. On the return, allow time to walk back to the car and clear the local roads before relying on a motorway journey estimate.
For a car-free visit, use rail to a suitable local station and organise the final leg in advance. Swanley is a useful station to investigate, with a booked taxi or a confirmed event shuttle if one is announced. The station is not the circuit gate. Ask where a taxi can legally drop off and collect during the event, and do not assume a ride-hailing car will appear at the busiest moment after the race.
If staying in London, plan the journey from the hotel's actual station, including the late return and any engineering works. For visitors from Scotland, northern England or Wales, compare a rail trip with driving and a Kent stay rather than routing through London automatically. Friday arrival gives you time to solve local geography before the first race day. Keep a written alternative for the journey home if the return train or taxi connection changes.

Search Dartford stays · 28–31 May 2027 ↗Swanley is our practical starting point for a short stay built around a station and a planned circuit transfer. Look at the room's distance from the station as well as the circuit. A property that saves on the transfer but needs another taxi every evening may not save money overall. Confirm parking if you drive, especially when choosing a small guesthouse or a high-street hotel.
Sevenoaks gives the trip more of a town-break feel. It suits people who want a pleasant evening base and are happy to arrange the circuit journey each day. Dartford can widen the room search and may suit some approaches by road or rail. In each case, compare a complete day: breakfast, outward transfer, return pickup and somewhere to eat after racing.
Search dates: 2027-05-28 to 2027-05-31 (three nights, two adults sharing). An earlier arrival adds another night; change the dates before booking. Match the hotel’s walk to your station or pickup point before reserving.
The searches cover 28–31 May. London remains an option if sightseeing is the main purpose of the holiday, but choose the room around the rail connection you will actually use. Do not describe a central London hotel as near the circuit simply because the race is called London. For a family, a larger room or apartment with food storage can be worth more than a marginally shorter transfer. Keep the cancellation terms flexible until the final event access plan fits your group.

True cost of the weekend
Two adults share one room for three nights, Friday–Monday. The ticket allowance follows the attended days described below.
Two adults share a room Friday 28–Monday 31 May, with a return journey from within Britain and both advertised race days. Budget uses basic accommodation and an admission allowance; Mid-range allows a reserved-seat-style product; Splurge adds a premium-ticket allowance. Local transport includes station transfers or shared parking and fuel; all ticket allowances await 2027 inventory.

|---|---|---|---|
| Tickets | £100 | £180 | £450 |
| Return travel | £60 | £100 | £180 |
| 3 nights’ stay | £120 | £240 | £510 |

| Total | £415 | £750 | £1,540 |
Estimates per adult, checked October 2026. Use them to plan, then swap in your real prices.
The biggest controllable costs are the ticket product, room location and final transfer. A cheaper hotel with two return taxis can lose its advantage quickly. Compare the total for two people sharing a car with rail fares and the last leg, and include parking rather than treating it as an incidental charge to remember later.
Budget prioritises ordinary admission and a basic shared room. Mid-range puts more into seating and a comfortable town base. Splurge leaves room for a premium spectator product and a better hotel, without assuming that a hospitality package includes accommodation. If a published package combines items, subtract those items from the other rows before adding the total so you do not pay for the same meal or transfer twice on paper.
Bring a permitted lunch, refill or buy water according to the event rules and keep some spending money for the part of the weekend you value most. A good meal after racing may be more memorable than upgrading every spectator day. If you choose a London extension, price it separately from the three-night racing break. That makes it easier to compare this trip with a conventional Brands Hatch meeting or another British event.
At the circuit
Use the Brands Hatch venue FAQ for the permanent facilities: Kentagon restaurant and bar, Hailwoods restaurant, Megastore and a medical centre beside Kentagon. Baby-changing facilities include the paddock shower block, Druids toilets and the Superloo by the Megastore. These are venue facilities, not a confirmed Formula E fan-zone map. The E-Prix’s bag policy, water rules, gate allocations and entertainment layout were not yet published in October 2026.
Brands Hatch’s venue accessibility FAQ covers general circuit facilities. Formula E’s meeting-specific arrangements need separate confirmation. Checked October 2026.
Venue-wide guidance, checked October 2026: bring bags ready for search under Brands Hatch’s 2026 security rules; no numerical size limit is given. The circuit layouts orientate the permanent track only. E-Prix concession payments and refill-point locations require Formula E’s own event guidance.
Viewing areas & general admission
Use the 2027 Formula E spectator map when choosing a position. Brands Hatch has familiar corner names and established viewing banks, but the series can use its own configuration, barriers and ticket boundaries. A guide to a touring-car meeting gives useful orientation; it is not a substitute for knowing which areas your E-Prix ticket admits you to.
For a first visit, favour a view with enough context to follow the race and a nearby screen if the ticket map confirms one. A dramatic corner is enjoyable, but a screen and a comfortable place to sit help you understand position changes over a whole race. Think about sunlight, rain, walking distance and toilets alongside the advertised view. Families should identify a place to take a break before the main crowd arrives.
On a two-day trip, use any permitted roaming on day one to find what works for you, then settle into a favourite position for the second race. Do not spend every session walking between banks. Leave access paths open, keep chairs out of circulation routes and follow the stewards' instructions. At the end, let the densest crowd move first if you are not catching a fixed connection; a calmer walk to the pickup point is often the better finish.
Event day by day
The official Brands Hatch announcement confirms the move from the 2026/27 season. It did not publish the first edition’s gate opening, practice, qualifying or race clock times. Leave the day clear until the championship issues its event programme; an ExCeL timetable describes a different venue and must not be used for Brands Hatch (checked October 2026).
Arrive on Friday and make the basic logistics boring: check in, buy supplies, confirm tomorrow's transport and identify an evening meal option. If you are staying in London, check the first train and the last sensible return before going to bed. Put the circuit entrance and pickup arrangement somewhere everyone in the group can find them.
Saturday is the day to learn the venue. Arrive with time to find your seat, toilets and the route between the places your ticket permits. Follow the event's daily programme rather than assuming an F1-style timetable. The official season announcement describes the GEN 4 era's two-format double-headers; the local programme will explain how those sessions fit the weekend.
On Sunday, use what you learned: take the right entrance, bring the layer you missed and choose the food break that avoids your favourite session. Agree the departure plan before the race begins. Monday makes a useful travel day or a separate sightseeing day, depending on your bookings. Avoid making the entire weekend depend on reaching one tightly timed Sunday connection; a double-header is much more enjoyable when the second race does not end in a sprint to the car park.
Getting back after the race
Brands Hatch’s arrival guide identifies Swanley station, with trains to London Victoria and a station taxi rank. Its shuttle operates only at selected major meetings; no E-Prix return service or final departure was confirmed in October 2026. Arrange a return taxi if there is no event bus. The local 429 passes the circuit Monday–Saturday, so it is not a Sunday fallback. Use a flexible train ticket until the race and transport timetables are available.
Before and after the race
- Knole — a Sevenoaks house-and-park visit
- Lullingstone Roman Villa — a compact local history outing
- Ightham Mote — a moated manor and countryside afternoon
- Hever Castle — a full garden-and-castle day away from the circuit
- The Bull Hotel — a Wrotham pub, restaurant and evening drink stop
A London day can work well for the non-fan, provided the accommodation and rail route support it. Give them an independent plan and a realistic meeting time after racing. The city offers enough choice that there is no need to prescribe a compulsory itinerary: pick an area, a museum or gallery and a meal, then leave time between them.
If the group prefers to stay in Kent, use the town base rather than treating it as a place to sleep only. Sevenoaks can be part of a slower day with a walk and lunch; other nearby destinations can be chosen around weather and transport. Use Visit Kent for current visitor information and book any timed attraction separately from the racing schedule.
Do not lend the non-fan the only car without arranging how the racing group gets back. Equally, do not leave someone stranded near the circuit because the driver wants one more session. A written meeting point and a backup contact plan avoid an unnecessary end-of-day argument. One shared evening meal and one shared sightseeing activity can make the whole break feel balanced without requiring everyone to enjoy the same sport for two full days.
First-timers & families
Bring the kit for an outdoor circuit. Waterproofs, a warm layer, comfortable shoes and sun protection belong in the bag even if you remember London Formula E as partly indoors. A small power bank helps keep tickets and transport information available. Download the ticket and a venue map before leaving the hotel rather than relying on mobile data at a crowded entrance.
For children, choose a manageable length of day and plan a proper break. Electric racing changes the sound of the event but does not remove crowds, announcements or every source of loud noise. Take suitable ear defenders if your child needs them and let them try the fit beforehand. Ask about the exact child-ticket age bands and seating rules when buying; do not carry over a concession from another series.
Check permitted food, drink, chairs and bags against the 2027 conditions. A comfortable lightweight bag is easier to manage on a bank or in a queue than several loose items. Agree what happens if someone gets separated, including a meeting point they can recognise. For a first race weekend, success is seeing enough to want to return, not staying until everyone is exhausted. A two-day ticket can let you split your priorities rather than packing everything into Saturday.
Accessibility
Treat the new venue as a fresh access enquiry even if you attended London Formula E before. Contact the organiser about the specific viewing area, step-free route, accessible toilets and the distance from parking or drop-off. Access arrangements at ExCeL do not transfer to a circuit in Kent.
Use Brands Hatch's official contact information alongside the Formula E ticket contact when the requirements involve both venue and event. Describe your mobility aid, seating needs and any companion assistance. Ask whether advance registration is required and whether your chosen ticket gives access to the appropriate platform or seat. Save the reply so the whole group knows what has been arranged.
For public transport, confirm the local station's assistance arrangements and book a vehicle that can carry your equipment for the final leg. A generic taxi booking may not do that. Check hotel entrances, bathrooms and parking with measurements or photographs if needed. Keep a plan for a delayed return, including medication and a way to stay warm. The right trip is the one whose complete chain works, from the station platform to the spectator seat and back to your room.
FAQs
Where is the 2027 London E-Prix taking place?
Brands Hatch in Kent is the venue identified by Formula E for 2027 . Do not book against the old ExCeL circuit or assume Docklands transport will take you to the race. Use the 2027 event map for entrances and ticket areas.
What are the 2027 London E-Prix dates?
The official calendar lists races on 29 and 30 May 2027 . Our three-night stay example is Friday 28–Monday 31 May, allowing arrival before racing and a night after the second day. Check the final daily timetable before choosing a shorter visit.
Can I stay in central London?
Yes, if the city break is part of your plan and you organise both the rail journey and the final circuit transfer. A Kent base can make two race days simpler. Compare total transfer time and cost before choosing solely by hotel price.
Is the old indoor–outdoor London course being used?
No. The 2027 event moves to Brands Hatch. Pack for an outdoor circuit and buy a product for the correct year and venue. Previous ExCeL seating plans, entry gates and DLR advice are not useful race-day instructions for this trip.
Is camping included with a race ticket?
Do not assume it is. Check whether 2027 event camping is offered, what the pitch includes and whether admission must be bought separately. The same applies to parking, premium seating and any optional fan experience advertised beside the main ticket.
Plan the rest of your trip
Use the Brands Hatch circuit guide to get familiar with the area and compare other race meetings. Keep the Formula E event map beside it when making a spectator choice, because ticket boundaries and the running configuration belong to the particular event.
The UK Motorsport hub gives you alternatives if dates, prices or the transfer do not suit. A touring-car or superbike round can offer a different balance of paddock access, support races and camping. Compare the full weekend rather than judging only the headline ticket.
For a bigger car-and-bike holiday, consider the Goodwood Festival of Speed as a separate trip with a different style of access. Choose one event properly before trying to join several into a crowded itinerary. For this E-Prix, the strongest plan is simple: a convenient bed, two well-organised racing days and a city or Kent excursion that gives everyone something to look forward to.
