Choose Revival for historic wheel-to-wheel racing wrapped in a period weekend, and stay in Chichester if you want the simplest train-and-shuttle plan. Dress for the atmosphere, but start with shoes and layers you can wear comfortably all day. The racing and the setting are worth enjoying without sore feet.
Goodwood confirms Friday 17–Sunday 19 September 2027 at the Motor Circuit. Our three-night searches run Friday 17–Monday 20 September, covering all event dates and a relaxed departure. Add Thursday night if you want a full Friday without an early long-distance journey.
This is a separate event from July's Festival of Speed. Revival uses the Motor Circuit and historic races; the Festival centres on the Hillclimb at Goodwood House and a broader mix of machinery. A ticket or transfer for one is not a booking for the other.
Use the official Revival page for dates and the current ticket route. Our recommended starting plan is general admission, a comfortable town room and a small number of racing priorities each day. Add grandstands or hospitality when you know what improvement you want.

Why go
Our verdict
Our opinion · how the 1–5 scores workGo for a historic racing weekend that also gives the non-specialist plenty to enjoy. The period setting, clothing and off-track atmosphere make the day distinctive even before you have learned the race categories. Let a companion choose some of that side of the visit, rather than assuming the whole group wants a seat by the circuit all day.
The racing is the reason to stay for more than a quick look. Watch one grid closely enough to recognise a few cars, then see a contrasting type later. The differences in shape, sound and pace make the history tangible without requiring a technical lecture.
Our view is that Revival suits a group who want to participate in the occasion. You can dress simply and comfortably, enjoy a meal together and explore between races. A carefully chosen outfit from clothes you already own often works better than spending the travel budget on something difficult to walk in.
The compromise is the time on your feet and the busyness of a major event. Build in sitting breaks, keep a weather plan and resist arranging every hour. Three enjoyable days with room to wander beat a timetable so tight that every queue feels like a problem.

Reference Revival app-release timing and latest ticket-policy reference (2026 edition — 2027 details not yet published).
The official ticket page lists the 2027 edition; no public admission price was available in its readable text. Official tickets and packages.
The current ticket FAQ gives free admission at 12 and under with an advance child ticket and wristband; under-18s need an adult. Ages 13–21 have a reduced Young Person ticket. Grandstand access needs a separate pass; confirm the boundary for a child aged exactly two because entries differ (checked October 2026).
The 2026 Revival used the Goodwood Tickets App, with tickets released 14 days before the event; reconfirm the 2027 release window. Goodwood’s official resale partner is Twickets for face-value resale by UK residents; tickets included in packages are excluded. The ticket office accepts cancellation, exchange or refund requests only within 48 hours of purchase. Official delivery, refund and resale rules, checked October 2026. Share guest tickets through the app; screenshots are not accepted. Goodwood app sharing guide.
Period dress is part of the pleasure, and specific paddock or enclosure dress rules can apply. Check the rules attached to your access before packing. A costume does not create permission to enter a restricted area, and a premium ticket can still have conditions worth reading.
If you want camping, select the official event's accommodation product and compare its pitch, facilities, transfer and arrival window. Admission and sleeping arrangements may be separate purchases. Do not assume sleeping in a parked vehicle is permitted: the current travel guide rules out overnight parking or camping in ordinary car parks.
Buy only from Goodwood or its listed agents. Unofficial sellers may sell invalid tickets.
Hospitality & upgrades
2027 hospitality — register interest in the named Revival options; prices and full inclusions await confirmation.
The 2027 Revival hospitality registration names Salvadori, The Officers’ Club, Commanding Officers’ Table, The Goodwood Mess, The Kennels Dining Room and The Village Hall. Packages are at registration-of-interest stage; 2027 prices and full inclusions are pending (checked October 2026).
Getting there
2027 travel planning — current Chichester rail and venue-arrival directions checked October 2026; dated station-shuttle details need confirmation.
Take the train to Chichester and use the meeting’s own station connection, detailed on the official getting-here page. London Victoria serves Chichester; journeys from Waterloo connect via Havant. Drivers should follow the event’s signed parking route rather than the nearest estate postcode. Festival of Speed takes place at Goodwood House; Revival and Members’ Meeting use the Motor Circuit, so their gates are not interchangeable. Check the station engineering notice and book the return transfer with the outward journey (checked October 2026).
Travel by rail to Chichester, then use the event shuttle described in Goodwood's Revival travel guide. The station and bus station are adjacent. Search the complete return journey and leave enough time for the queue back from the circuit before choosing a fixed train.
From London, compare the Victoria service with Waterloo connections via Havant. Birmingham, Bristol and Manchester travellers should examine the actual changes and final arrival time. From Edinburgh, Glasgow or Newcastle, a Thursday arrival may be the more comfortable way to enjoy Friday; add that room night to the trip total.
Drivers should follow the signed event approach and their parking instructions near Goodwood. Public parking is currently described as free and is on grass. Choose footwear with that first and last walk in mind, even if the outfit is smart. Premium parking and ordinary admission are different products.
For taxis, agree the designated pickup point and the return arrangement before setting off. Revival's current guide identifies Car Park D for the ordinary taxi area. Keep a flexible dinner booking and enough time to reach your station or room after racing. A short geographic distance can still involve event queues, walking and controlled access.

Search Midhurst stays · 17–20 September 2027 ↗Chichester is the first place we would compare for a car-free Revival weekend. A room within a manageable walk of the station makes both the shuttle journey and the evening easier. Confirm breakfast hours and the ticket-access method before leaving for the circuit, then keep the return bus and hotel directions offline.
Bognor Regis suits a companion who wants the coast and can work with the journey through Chichester. Compare the actual return connection after the event, not just the daytime frequency. A seaside stay should add something to the holiday rather than simply replace a short walk with several uncertain transfers.
Midhurst offers a smaller-town option for drivers or a booked transfer. Check parking at the property and how you reach dinner if the room is outside the centre. A rural B&B can be excellent, but its location needs to match your daily plan as well as the photograph.
These searches use 17–20 September. If you add Thursday for an early Friday start, update every room and transfer booking together. Ask for the full stay price including breakfast and parking, then compare cancellation deadlines. Keep Sunday night if you want to enjoy the final programme without watching the clock for a long drive.
Search dates: 2027-09-17 to 2027-09-20 (three nights, two adults sharing). An earlier arrival adds another night; change the dates before booking. Match the hotel’s walk to your station or pickup point before reserving.

Taxis use Car Park D for drop-off and collection. Blue Badge access is also through Car Park D and Gate 12 (checked October 2026). The organiser’s bus and train paragraphs publish conflicting last-shuttle times, so agree the return service with the operator before leaving the station.

Estimates per adult, checked October 2026. Use them to plan, then swap in your real prices.
Budget allows general admission, a modest shared room and economical mainland travel. Mid-range gives space for an upgrade and a more comfortable base. Splurge increases the ticket or hospitality allowance and the hotel budget, keeping the same three-night stay so the comparison remains useful.
Clothing is a separate personal choice. Set a limit before shopping, reuse suitable pieces and put comfortable shoes first. If a specific enclosure needs something you do not own, compare that extra spending with choosing a different ticket. The outfit should support the day rather than become its most expensive surprise.
Read hospitality inclusions carefully when entering your real numbers. Included lunch replaces part of the food line; a package transfer replaces a journey, not the whole travel budget. If a camping package includes admission, count that ticket once. Keeping the basket simple helps you see which upgrade actually buys comfort.
A local day visit can cost considerably less than this three-night model. For long-distance travellers, the Sunday night is often worth retaining: it lets the weekend finish with dinner rather than a tiring journey after a full day outside.
At the circuit
The FAQ places the pharmacy behind Chicane Grandstand by Revival Market; treatment centres are Over the Road, Lavant Corner and between Earls Court Motor Show/Tony Gaze Building. Food concessions accept cards, with indoor catering/GRRC enclosures cashless. Replica weapons and public drones are prohibited. Twickets is the official face-value resale partner for UK residents; package tickets cannot be resold there (checked October 2026).
Bags, picnic and facilities: the event FAQ asks for minimal bags ready for search, with no numerical size limit. Alongside drones and replica weapons, sharp objects beyond sensible picnic cutlery and illegal substances are prohibited. Picnics are welcome: between two guests, up to one 750 ml bottle of wine/champagne or four beers, with no spirits. Accessible toilets appear on the official event map; Changing Places facilities are between Gates 12–13 and near Over the Road North Entrance. Refill locations and the final 2027 service layout need confirmation. Latest published guidance checked October 2026.
Viewing areas & general admission
Choose one main race view, then give yourself permission to wander. Use the official visitor map to place the chicane, public viewing and routes between the circuit and off-track areas. Pick a position where everyone can see comfortably before committing to a long session.
A grandstand product can provide useful sitting time and a different sightline. Read whether seats are reserved or roving and which stands the pass covers. A general event photograph is not enough to tell you where your particular ticket lets you sit.
The paddocks need their own access check. Look at public areas where your ticket permits and leave working space clear. Ask staff if you are unsure about an entrance instead of following a group through it. The best close-up visit happens when you can look patiently without getting in somebody's way.
For a family, alternate racing with quieter off-track exploration. Agree a meeting point before splitting up and leave a generous buffer if you need a controlled crossing. A short, well-chosen walk can refresh the day; trying to tour the whole site between two consecutive races makes it needlessly hurried.
Event day by day
2026 — 2027 details not yet published: the Revival FAQ gives car parks 07:00, public gates 08:30 and track activity 08:45. GRRC Members/Fellows and Over the Road enter at 07:30. The main site closes around 19:00; Over the Road continues until 22:00 Friday/Saturday and 21:00 Sunday (checked October 2026).
Use Friday 17 September to settle into the event and understand the routes. If you arrive that morning, arrange luggage storage before heading to the circuit. Choose a first viewing position, find food and toilets, and leave enough time to explore the setting without feeling you must do everything before lunch.
Saturday is the day to give your most important races a proper place in the plan. Settle for the session you care about and use a wider gap for shopping, displays or a paddock visit allowed by your ticket. Keep the evening flexible around the event programme and the actual return shuttle.
On Sunday, revisit what you liked most and enjoy the final racing. Our Monday departure means you can stay through the programme and return to town without racing a long-distance connection. If you must leave early, choose that departure deliberately and accept the session you will miss before paying for transport.
The final timetable determines race allocations and operating times. Download it shortly before travel, and keep each day's priorities short enough to adapt. An interrupted session is easier to absorb when the rest of the day has room in it.
Back at the room, dry the footwear and reset the bag. Leave the next morning's clothing and ticket ready so another outdoor day starts calmly.
Getting back after the race
Use the Revival transport page for the Chichester station bus and the designated taxi point in Car Park D. Its published bus and rail paragraphs gave different final-service hours when checked in October 2026, so confirm the actual final departure with the operator before staying late Over the Road. Arrange a taxi collection and a flexible train if you want the evening entertainment. The event FAQ’s site-closing time is not a promise of a station shuttle at that hour.
Before and after the race
- Chichester Cathedral for a city-centre visit.
- Pallant House Gallery for modern British art.
- Weald & Downland Living Museum for a separate countryside day out.
- Farmer, Butcher, Chef for a restaurant and bar booking.
- The Great Sussex Way for West Wittering beach and South Downs day-trip ideas.
- Chichester Festival Theatre — book an evening performance if its programme fits your visit.
Revival's off-track atmosphere can be part of a non-fan's day, but give them a proper independent option too. Chichester offers a manageable city centre, cathedral and cultural attractions to investigate through the local tourism guide. Choose an indoor alternative if rain makes a long walk unattractive.
A Bognor Regis stay can support a seaside day without requiring the companion to attend the circuit. Make sure they have room access and a way to pay, especially if the car goes with the spectators. Agree dinner in the base town and a realistic return window rather than a fixed pickup at the gate.
For a shared Sussex extension, add a day when nobody has to watch a race timetable. Explore one town, a coastal route or a cultural attraction and keep the travel modest. It is a more enjoyable way to balance interests than promising to squeeze a sightseeing trip between two sessions.
Let the non-fan shape part of the evening. The best mixed visit has room for their meal choice or outing as well as your favourite grid. That makes the trip a shared holiday rather than three days spent waiting for the same person to leave the track.
First-timers & families
Choose footwear before finishing the period outfit. Grass, queues and a full day walking call for a comfortable pair you already know, with a waterproof layer that can be added quickly. Carry spare warmth for the evening and keep the bag light enough to manage on foot.
For children, bring properly fitted ear defenders and introduce them before the event. Build the day around short viewing blocks, food and a quieter pause. Use the correct child ticket or registration product at checkout and ask separately about a grandstand seat or package access.
Give each child a contact wristband where the organiser provides one, and agree the nearest staffed information point as a reunion plan. Keep working areas and barriers out of bounds. A child who enjoys one race and a look around the displays has had a successful first visit even if you had planned more.
Check before you book: confirm the current 2027 child ages, bag rules, food policy and access-related dress requirements. Pack to the event's actual instructions and carry only what your group can use comfortably.
A hotel is useful for changing wet clothes and an early bedtime. Camping can add fun for an experienced outdoor family, provided the pitch, showers and transfer meet your needs.
Accessibility
Read the Revival accessibility guide before selecting a ticket. Discuss the whole route from arrival to viewing, toilets and the return journey. State the surfaces, gradients or assistance that matter to you, rather than relying on a broad label.
The current guidance describes dedicated disabled parking and mobility hire arrangements. Reserve any essential equipment directly and confirm its collection point and return time. Revival's period transport assistance may not suit every mobility need, so ask about the actual vehicle and access before making it part of your plan.
Companion tickets and special access arrangements should be agreed through the official route. Keep confirmation with your admission and parking instructions. If using a taxi, check the distance and surface between its permitted drop-off and the place you want to watch.
Plan fewer long moves, leaving a comfortable break between them. Carry medication and a weather layer, and have an alternative if wet ground makes one route difficult. Ask the hotel about the room entrance, bathroom and bed layout directly. A convenient town address is useful only when the room and final transfer work for the people staying there.
FAQs
When is Goodwood Revival in 2027?
Goodwood confirms 17–19 September at the Motor Circuit. Our three-night searches cover 17–20 September; add an earlier night if you want a relaxed full Friday.
Do I have to dress in period clothing?
Dressing for the period is encouraged and adds to the atmosphere. Specific paddock and enclosure dress rules can apply, so check your ticket's access conditions before packing.
Is Revival the same as Festival of Speed?
No. Revival is a historic race meeting at the Motor Circuit; Festival of Speed centres on the Hillclimb at Goodwood House. Each needs its own admission and travel plan.
Does general admission include every paddock?
No. Central paddock access is restricted. Read the rights attached to the actual ticket or package and use the public areas it permits.
Can I use the train?
Yes. Travel to Chichester and use the Revival shuttle, allowing for its fare and the queue back. Check the dated last service before buying a fixed onward train.
Plan the rest of your trip
Compare the Festival of Speed guide if your group prefers a summer hillclimb, paddocks and modern machinery alongside historic cars. Choose Revival when the period atmosphere and wheel-to-wheel historic racing are the main attraction.
The Members' Meeting guide covers the smaller spring event and its membership-based ticket access. It can appeal to an enthusiastic returning visitor, but it has a different admission process and its own dates. Price each trip separately before deciding to attend more than one.
Use the UK Motorsport hub for other event weekends and circuit guides. If the next trip should be a Grand Prix, compare the complete budget in the Silverstone race guide rather than just the headline ticket price.
Before confirming Revival, put the event days, nights, transport and ticket rights on one page for the group. Add the clothing you actually need and the extra arrival night if travelling far. A simple, comfortable plan leaves you free to enjoy the details that make the weekend distinctive.
